What are some renewable energy systems? Purchase/installation/maintena… for a college?

I need to know some renewable energy systems.

The purchase/installation/maintenance costs for a college. Any information would be GREAT!

Yes, this is my college paper and I am having a hard time so I ask intelligent, smart people here in Yahoo Answers to help me out please. Thank you to all that try to help me.

Renewable energy comes directly from natural resources that can be constantly replenished such as wind, sun, wave and water. It is all around us, it’s just a matter of harnessing it. When it comes to using renewable energy, there are basically two options available. You can either buy a professional green energy system or you could start your own do it yourself renewable energy project. Buying a green source of energy system can cost you thousands of dollars but if you decide to start a do it yourself renewable power project you will only need to spend around $200 (If u are in United States).

If you are tend to purchase solar panel/wind turbine, you can do some research and find the minimum requirements needed and see if your residence is a candidate for solar or wind power or maybe a combination of both. Don’t forget to check with your local code enforcement officials for any restrictions or permits. You can ask the contractor you hired for the installation process and maintenance, but normally they don’t have a time to answer all of your questions.

On the other hand, if you prefer to build the system (solar panel/wind turbine) by your own, you can know all of the information you needed since you will learn step by step from the beginning until the end. It will also provide you the information regarding the maintenance of the system.

You can visit Mark’s website provided below to gather more information. He got lot of great stuff with regards Renewable Energy. Best of luck to you.

Clean Energy – Build your own solar panels – Renewable Resources

Solar energy, radiant light and heat from the sun, has been harnessed by humans since ancient times using a range of ever-evolving technologies. Solar energy technologies include solar heating, solar photovoltaics, solar thermal electricity, solar architecture and artificial photosynthesis, which can make considerable contributions to solving some of the most urgent energy problems the world now faces.
Solar technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they capture, convert and distribute solar energy. Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors to harness the energy. Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.
In 2011, the International Energy Agency said that “the development of affordable, inexhaustible and clean solar energy technologies will have huge longer-term benefits. It will increase countries’ energy security through reliance on an indigenous, inexhaustible and mostly import-independent resource, enhance sustainability, reduce pollution, lower the costs of mitigating climate change, and keep fossil fuel prices lower than otherwise. These advantages are global. Hence the additional costs of the incentives for early deployment should be considered learning investments; they must be wisely spent and need to be widely shared”.
