Are you ready for Clean Energy now, Chevron just released 400 Barrels of oil in a leak in Salt Lake City?

How many more, before everyone understands that we must put this country on a path to Clean Energy.

We should have been on the fast track to making/using clean energy years ago, along with high speed railways.

So I guess that means you are for nuclear energy?

No. There is no viable alternative.

Too bad there’s not any "clean" energy (it really isn’t clean, you know) that can take the place of coal, oil and natural gas.

We’ve been ready but the hostility to clean energy sources, fueled by the wealth of the big oil companies, has been helping to keep us from reaching our full potential in that area and from zealously pursuing the development of alternative energy sources. I do however think that things are changing for the better.

Have been ready for 20 years. Cons can’t get it in theirs heads that it’s going to happen and we should be number 1 not China or India.

Sure! Where is it? Pull your head out,,, wanting and having are very different things. I suppose you could start by not having anything plastic and ditching your computer, TV, car and most of the building you live in. Somehow I think you will continue to consume at a rate higher than others (like AlGore) and biotch like the hypocrite you are.

Jeez getting facts through a liberals head is like driving a nail through a rock.

OK once again. We do not oppose clean energy. Do you understand that?

All we are saying is that until clean energy is available, efficient and cost effective then oil is what we have.

And since it is what he have right now then we should get it domestically instead of paying nations that hate us for it.

Instead of spreading propaganda why don’t you actually do something to help the development of renewable clean energy? Start a fund for it’s research or something like that.

When solar or wind power becomes affordable I will buy those systems for my home. But the undeniable fact is they are not affordable to the average person.

Don’t they have to come up with some form of clean energy to use before we can begin using it? Blaming people for using oil is like blaming people for using money. Do we have a choice that is affordable. Using corn for fuel is causing starvation. Is that worse than using oil? Cap and trade will do nothing but cost us all a lot of money. Why doesn’t the government open this matter up to those who have solved such problems before? The innovators, not the government.

Do you realize that the earth secretes almost 1,000,000 gallons of oil each day from under the ocean?
This comes from areas that are far to deep to drill. The difference is that it is not all concentrated to a single area.

You want clean energy, ok. Now try to provide clean energy without using any petroleum based product. Damn, I guess we need to drill an oil well. I am willing to bet that at this very moment you are using something that was made from a petroleum base.

Am I giving you a headache? need to take an aspirin? better wait on that, aspirin contains petroleum based products.

Are you wearing clothes, chances are they are made from man made products that use a petroleum based product.

Any product manufactured even if it contains no petroleum based products, will still require machinery that uses petroleum based products.

Clean energy will reduce the need for oil, it will not eliminate the need and as long as we have a need for any product that is petroleum based we will need to drill for oil and there will be times when accident happen.

If it were left up to me, I would kick foreign oil companies out of US oil fields (BP comes to mind)
and I would extract oil from within our own borders where an oil spill is much easier to contain and clean up. There would be no selling of our oil to other countries and no buying from other countries.

Just since January 1 2010 the US has spent more than $142 billion on foreign oil, almost $60 billion of this oil came from OPEC countries. Countries that would like to see the US destroyed.

Drilling in the US for our own oil would create thousands of good paying jobs where the taxes paid will increase the revenues to the federal government, the government will also receive a royalty on every barrel taken. Would we be having huge budget deficits if we drilled for our own oil ?
Look at the state of Alaska, there is NO state income tax, each citizen receives approximately $2,000 each year from the oil company and the federal government is also paid a royalty of approximately 16.7% .

The 400 barrels that you referenced in your question has a loss in royalties of $5,210.40 to the federal government, imagine what the loss is due to the Gulf Spill.

    Note: Math —
    Barrel of oil = $78.00
    num barrels = 400

    400 x $78.00 = $31,200

    $31,200 x 0.167 = $5,120.40

As you can see as the price of a barrel of oil increases so does the amount of the royalty.
    References :
Oil, you will NEVER get rid of it.
