Smart meter ‘opt out’?

Posted by admin on December 29, 2012 in Clean Energy with No Comments

VICTORIA – The NDP says it’s time the BC Utilities Commission steps in to help those who wish to opt out.

Just one day after the province announced BC Hydro will get a one year extension to complete smart meter installation province-wide, the NDP’s energy critic says enough is enough.

The Liberals exempted the smart meter program from oversight by the BCUC when it passed the Clean Energy Act in 2010, something the NDP says has led to the current mistrust of the much aligned meters.

Energy Critic John Horgan says it’s time the BCUC was restored to its regulatory purpose.
