How should I start my global warming term paper?

Posted by admin on July 2, 2012 in Global Warming with 11 Comments

This is what I have so far-

There are many gases in the atmosphere. these gases are very important. these gases include carbon dioxide, water vapor, and oxygen. These gases are important for our survival but if there is too much of them, it could have drastic effects. An example of one of these effects is global warming.

Global warming is caused by the release of gases in the atmosphere. This is usually caused by the emmission of gases such as carbon dioxide from homes, factories, and cars. These gases get trapped in the atmosphere and block ultraviolet rays from the sun which slowly increases the earth’s surface temperature. This has resulted in melting of polar ice caps, odd wather patterns and shorter winters. This affects us because when Global Warming increases the earth’s surface temperature, it impacts the weather we experience everyday and the gases we emmit decrease the amount of oxygen that we breathe.

If you have anything to add, please tell me. I highly encourage it. I have more. This is just my intro

That is an excellent start to your paper, although greenhouse gases absorb infrared from the Earth rather than ultraviolet from the Sun. Of course, you do need sources.

As the first responder to your question, I apologize for the denialists who will respond to your question.

Global warming is actually caused by an increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. And make sure you call it ‘Anthropogenic global warming’ not just ‘global warming’. The gases rise into the atmosphere and actually trap infrared radiation emitted from the Earth. I’ll rewrite it for you and you can go on from there.

There are many gasses in the atmosphere that are important to our survival such as carbon dioxide, water vapour, nitrogen and oxygen. Carbon dioxide, water vapour, and any other similar gas are known as greenhouse gasses. If an increase of these gasses occurs in the atmosphere more of the heat is trapped in the atmosphere and warming occurs.

There are many ways that these gasses are emitted by humans such as energy for homes, factories and cars. These gasses absorb infrared energy from the Earth and increases the Earth’s surface temperature which has an impact on the day-to-day weather we experience.

You’re going to need to change it quite a bit from that as I posted this while doing other things in your own words.

You also have a misunderstanding of what global warming is. It doesn’t deal with ultraviolet radiation from the Sun but infrared radiation from the Earth. The ‘decrease the amount of oxygen that we breathe’ isn’t important to global warming and should be left out. Study up on the greenhouse effect.

Along with the Oxygen needed for our basic survival, there are other gases in our atmosphere which contribute to climate change/global warming. These greenhouse gases are Water Vapor, Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Nitrous Oxide, and Low Level Ozone. The human contributions are Carbon Dioxide, primarily from auto emission and power plants, Methane mostly from garbage and sewage, and Nitrous Oxide which when combined with sunlight produces Low Level Ozone. Water vapor, which although naturally occurring, increases as the global temperature rises.

An example of one of these is global warming? There is no global warming. The IPCC even admits this and now collects money for the scare of Climate Change.

But honesty will never get you a good grade because this is a test to see how much you have been indoctrinated. But carry on and pass your political science class but God help us if you ever run for office.

Well you are already wrong. The strongest GH gas is water vapor.
Global warming is also a natural event which has happened before. The warming also has a record of leading an increase in CO2 not following it.

We are already heading to global cooling and still your term paper about global warming? Your term paper doesn’t make sense, at least make it more realistic.

And when you have finished your paper could you just add the question….
"Which one of the following emitters caused the end of the last ice age 10,000 years ago…..homes, factories or cars?

    I’d start with this line:

"The climate has always changed. The climate is changing. The climate will continue to change. Humankind does not have the power to do very much about it." ~Lord Monckton

Global Warming is junk science, like Phrenology or Creationism. Much like the Eugenicists of the early 20th Century, who believed in the inate superiority of the White Race, then used ‘science’ to ‘prove’ their faith, AGW climatologists presume the conclusion THEN seek confirming data.

The 0.01% change in CO2’s atmospheric concentration is simply too small to make a meaningful difference. The charts show no apparent correlation.

In fact the only thing that makes sense in AGW theory is that Governments pay for most the research & the Research always says we need give more money to the Government to ‘solve’ the problem.

Declaring CO2 a pollutant gives Government vast powers to regulate all aspects of your life.

THAT is the significance of AGW.

I would start with the truth on man made global warming. It is a scam for the government to gain control of your life. Global warming and cooling is a natural process that has been going on for a long time. It is a hoax to control your life. We have lost liberty not by terrorists, but by our own government. After 911 we have to be searched, patriot act took away more rights, global warming alarmists want us to give up more freedom to "save the planet", chemtrails are ruining our blue skies (probably will blame that on man made global warming). Take a chance, stand out and speak the truth.

No one is denying that global warming (and cooling) is taking place. The +problem+ is that there bad decisions being made with information from the hysteria which is being created by the alarmists.
International Socialists like Gore are creating a false hysteria in order to scare the masses into giving up freedom and to submit to more government control, more “international” government control. Wake up, America! He who controls energy controls the world.
As Margaret Thatcher put it: global warming is proving to be “a marvelous excuse for international socialism.”
Global warming is indeed real and has been documented with ice cores dating back tens of thousands of years.
What is NOT real is the quackery that humans caused (or can even affect) global warming.
The scare tactics being perpetrated upon us are only a money/power grab scheme by bottom-feeder politicians accompanied by their so-easily-led sheeple who take their prattle, even their movies, as hard science..
To find that my statement above is true, follow the money. See just who it is who will profit from the carbon offset, carbon tax, & etc.

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.
The earth’s mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.
This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.
Our planet is currently emerging from a ‘mini ice age’, so is
becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).
As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat ‘conveyor’ which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).
When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It’s been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.
As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to ‘predict’ chaotic systems such as weather.
    Global warming (AKA "climate change")
    Humans did not cause it
    Humans cannot stop it
