Polls Show Progressive Majority, Why No Action?

Posted by admin on February 24, 2013 in Global Warming with 25 Comments

–Even though countless polls show a progressive majority, including a recent poll about the action President Obama should take on Global Warming, it seems difficult to actually take action.

–On the Bonus Show: Football sticker leads to marijuana stop, nipple exposure legislation, rude place names, more…

    No, because they …
No, because they know what to say to get them elected, and then they don’t have to do it because they’re being paid to not do it.

    Climate hysteria …
Climate hysteria was predicated on an false assumption. The climate alarmists’ model heavily relied on an “amplification” factor via water vapor to make theoretical predictions.

This “amplification effect” was arbitrarily set at 3x the warming effect of CO2. The models have proven 100% unreliable. As a Climategate scientist wrote “we cannot account for the lack of warmth over [period X].”

As if that’s a BAD thing!! If one’s job depends on manufacturing demand for one’s own services, i suppose.

    This shows why we …
This shows why we don’t live in a democracy. The majority doesn’t know enough to make theses big decisions. Look at gun control. The majority supposedly wants some form of it. Now ask an intelligent person that question and they will impose it because they realize that it will lead to more gun control and the eventual banning of guns. The general public isn’t intelligent enough to make big decision like that. “Progressive” policies look great but are usually are not.

    I never said a …
I never said a thing about who I vote for. I’m not crazy about Obama either. All I’m saying is that it’s a bit extreme to equate him to Bush, because their social policies are vastly different.

    Horus was born to …
Horus was born to the goddess Isis after she retrieved all the dismembered body parts of her murdered husband Osiris, except his penis which was thrown into the Nile and eaten by a catfish,[6][7] and used her magic powers to resurrect Osiris and fashion a gold phallus[8] to conceive her son.

    1. As long as the …
    1. As long as the majority are Democrats, then the rule shouldn’t apply.I`m not impartial or consistant.
    2. The National Journal only takes some votes to make a determination. I take every vote into consideration. You made me do my homework. Ok…..Obamas voting record in 2005 was 91%, in 2006, it was 87% in 2006. He missed a lot of votes in 07 and 08 due to the fact that he was running for POTUS.(Mc Cain missed lots of votes too)

  16. s9z9sFebruary 24, 2013 - 11:26 pm #16

    Sorry, but self- …
Sorry, but self-described “liberals” are only twenty percent of the population. Conservatives are double that.

  17. s9z9sFebruary 24, 2013 - 11:26 pm #17

    Now you leftists …
Now you leftists are citing Greenspan, who helped create the dot com and housing bubbles which caused two heavy tankings of our economy within seven years? And of course you start with your unholy trinity, the class, gender, and race cards. According to the US Census Bureau, middle class incomes went up 22% during the Reagan years and 15% for the poor. Also, the black middle class made huge gains during both the Reagan, Clinton, and Bush years, which has been reversed under Obama.

  18. s9z9sFebruary 24, 2013 - 11:26 pm #18

    4.) Middle class …
4.) Middle class incomes went up 22% during the Reagan years, while the incomes of the poor went up 15%. That’s from the US Census Bureau. To find the article, google “Reagan years benefit poor, middle class Baltimore Sun”.

  19. s9z9sFebruary 24, 2013 - 11:26 pm #19

    1.) Reagan was …
1.) Reagan was promised $3 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax increases by the Democrats and RINOs in his party. He got hosed, just as he did with the Simpson-Mazzoli bill which was supposed to secure the border “once and for all.”
2.) National Journal rated Obama was the most left wing Senator, just as Kerry before him. You always nominate the most extreme guy in your party, yet complain about the Dems not moving hard enough left.
3.) Checks and balances is all about preventing majority rule.

  20. Gambit GarrisonFebruary 24, 2013 - 11:26 pm #20

    Jesus Christ – try …
Jesus Christ – try to be at least a little honest. Even Greenspan later admitted that Reaganomics was a bad idea. It didn’t benefit unions, airlines, the homeless, the mentally ill, drug addicts, women, blacks. *sigh* I don’t know if it’s misinformation or willful ignorance.

    The idea that …
The idea that there are MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF SECRET LIBERALS HERE WHO LOVE POLITICS AND/OR FOLLOW IT OFTEN BUT JUST DON’T RAISE THEIR VOICES… sounds pretty absurd, if you ask me.

  22. Whoo711February 24, 2013 - 11:26 pm #22

    or those who simply …
or those who simply HAVE NO COHERENT IDEOLOGY, only doing, “what my parents did and raised me to be (party affiliation, basically).” So they may THINK they have View A, but really, who knows… They just wanna satisfy the pollster and “Go with their gut instinct” based on, usually, only 2 selectable choices, neither of which is “don’t know” or “Unsure.”

    Well, I DID read a …
Well, I DID read a wonderfully-informative book about this which sheds light on the topic. It seems that, although it APPEARS that there’s a “progressive majority” on issues like this, the amount of people WHO ACTUALLY CARE ENOUGH whether our leaders take action that favor their ideology is another matter altogether. The fact may well be that folks like David here, Cenk Uygur, etc., UNKNOWINGLY DISCOUNT the actual amount of folks who are either too apathetic to really give much of a shit
