Arctic sea ice shrinks to record low – NewsX

Posted by admin on August 29, 2012 in Global Warming with 1 Comment

The Arctic ice cap has shrunk to lowest extent ever, surpassing a record set only five years ago, signalling the long-term impact of Global Warming. With possibly two weeks’ further melt likely before the ice reaches its minimum extent and starts to refreeze ahead of the winter, satellites showed it had shrunk to 4.1 million sq km on Sunday. The record is widely seen by scientists at the NSIDC and elsewhere as a strong signal of long-term climate warming. Arctic sea ice follows an annual cycle of melting through the warm summer months and refreezing in the winter. It has shown a dramatic overall decline over the past 30 years.

Global Warming is Real

Posted by admin on August 20, 2012 in Global Warming with 24 Comments

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), in a speech delivered to the Senate on July 30th, 2012, rebutted what he called “myths” espoused by Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the ranking Republican on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. “Many who take climate science seriously dismiss Sen. Inhofe. I believe that is a huge mistake,” Sanders said of the Senate panel’s former chairman. “For better or worse, when Sen. Inhofe speaks, the Republican Party follows. And when the Republican Party follows, it is impossible to get real work done in the Congress.”

Papantonio: Who Are The Climate Criminals?

Posted by admin on August 14, 2012 in Global Warming with 14 Comments

You don’t have to be an environmentalist or a scientist to be concerned about what’s happening to our planet when it comes to climate change. The evidence is all around us, and as a whole, we’re doing almost nothing to stop the coming catastrophes. And it’s because of a few wealthy, powerful, corporate elites that the United States has almost completely stalled all action to help combat global climate change, and Mike Papantonio recently spoke with Gaius Publius from America Blog about the corporate CEOs who are helping our planet burn to the ground.

Posted by admin on August 8, 2012 in Global Warming with 25 Comments

Last year on his Fox Business show, Eric Bolling dismissed the threat of Global Warming and asked, “Do we even need our air conditioners next year?” Turns out, we did. This summer the U.S. has experienced record-breaking temperatures that experts say are evidence of climate change.

Renewable Energy in Iran

Posted by admin on July 28, 2012 in Renewable Energy with 12 Comments

Most of the world’s energy resources are being supplied by fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas. But the world’s dependence on fossil fuels is no good for several reasons.

One is the fact that coal, oil and gas will eventually run out. No one knows exactly when, but the US Department of Energy says we have roughly 104 years of fossil fuels left, and that’s if global consumption stays the same, which it probably won’t.

It’s been estimated that by the year 2020, world energy consumption will increase 50 percent. So it’s a matter of decades before the world runs out of its main source of fuel.

Another problem caused by burning up 350 quadrillion BTUs of fossil fuel a year, is the creation of a substantial amount of carbon dioxide, which is contributing to Global Warming and the subsequent melting of the ice-caps.

And of course air pollution threatens human health and that of the planet. The solution to all this is to find energy sources that are clean or green, and preferably won’t run out.

Green fuel is something the whole world knows it will have to invest in sooner or later. Iran is one of the nations trying to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.
